Garage doors are frequently large enough to accommodate automobiles and other vehicles. Small garage doors may be constructed as a single panel that tilts up and back across the garage ceiling.

Garage doors are inspected for two conditions:

  1. A hole in the door that penetrates entirely through, including a missing or damaged window or panel, and
  2. A door that cannot open or close. A door is not required to have an electronic motor; however, if a motor is present, it must function as intended. For electronic garage doors, if the door does not open with the electronic motor, it should be cited as a door that will not open or close.
